This tradition no doubt is environment friendly and prevents pollution when these idols are immersed in water. Even as the debate on the pollution caused by immersion of mud and paint idols in the sea heats up across India, the Shenvi Khandeparkar & Shenvi Navelkar families in Ponda district of Goa worship paper idols of the deity in keeping with an age old tradition.

IPL Spot-Fixing: ICC withdraws Pak umpire Asad Rauf from Champions Trophy

The ICC on Thursday withdrew Pakistan umpire Asad Rauf from the Champions Trophy, to be played next month, in wake of media reports that he was under investigation by Mumbai Police in the spot fixing case. According to a statement issued by ICC, it took the desicion of the umpire's withdrawal since it believes it was in the best interest of Rauf as well as sports.
