Baghdad, Sep 23 2007 : US forces raided a Shi'ite area south of the capital Baghdad on Saturday, killing seven people and detaining 12 others. According to the residents, US paratroopers raided the Shi'ite district of Jilawiya in the town of Iskandariya, besieging the district and raiding a number of houses using sniffer dogs. Two houses were blown up by the US raiding forces. US forces also raided Baghdad's sprawling slum of Sadr City, detaining four civilians.
