Fire In Income Tax Office

New Delhi, Oct. 6 2007 : MA major fire broke out in a multi-storied building housing an income tax office in the heart of New Delhi today. There were no casualties though a large number of documents were destroyed in the fire that happened early in the morning at around 5 a.m. Forty fire engines were rushed to the spot to tame the blaze that quickly spread up to several floors. The nine-storied building houses a number of government and private offices.

IPL betting scandal: Gurunath Meiyappan arrested, Srinivasan says wont resign

Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI President N Srinivasan has been arrested for his alleged involvement in IPL betting scandal. Meiyappan will be produced before a metropolitan court on Saturday. He was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch after nearly two-and-a-half hours of questioning that began at 9.30 pm.

Congress top leaders to discuss on food security bill

There is a meeting of Congress core group today, in which they will decide whether to call for a special session of Parliament or to pass an ordinance on the Food Security Bill. Earlier, a meeting based on the same issue was held on 17th May which did not have inconclusive.
