Guwahati, Nov. 24, 2007 : Twelve people died and over a hundred were injured in a violent clash between tribals and local residents in India's eastern Guwahati on November 24. Fierce violence broke out between protesting tribals and local residents during a protest march of the former towards the State Assembly with their demand for Scheduled Tribes status. Following the clashes, an indefinite curfew has been imposed in areas between Dispur and Bashistha.

IPL betting scandal: Gurunath Meiyappan arrested, Srinivasan says wont resign

Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI President N Srinivasan has been arrested for his alleged involvement in IPL betting scandal. Meiyappan will be produced before a metropolitan court on Saturday. He was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch after nearly two-and-a-half hours of questioning that began at 9.30 pm.

Congress top leaders to discuss on food security bill

There is a meeting of Congress core group today, in which they will decide whether to call for a special session of Parliament or to pass an ordinance on the Food Security Bill. Earlier, a meeting based on the same issue was held on 17th May which did not have inconclusive.
