TRIBALS BLAME POLICE FOR VIOLENCE

Guwahati Nov 25, 2007 : Injured tribals of violent clash, which left at least 12 dead, and over hundred injured in India's eastern Guwahati, blamed the police for the incident on Sunday (November 25). Many shops were also destroyed and some 100 vehicles were damaged in the ensuing aggression. Following the clashes, an indefinite curfew was imposed in areas between Dispur and Bashistha.

IPL betting scandal: Gurunath Meiyappan arrested, Srinivasan says wont resign

Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI President N Srinivasan has been arrested for his alleged involvement in IPL betting scandal. Meiyappan will be produced before a metropolitan court on Saturday. He was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch after nearly two-and-a-half hours of questioning that began at 9.30 pm.

Congress top leaders to discuss on food security bill

There is a meeting of Congress core group today, in which they will decide whether to call for a special session of Parliament or to pass an ordinance on the Food Security Bill. Earlier, a meeting based on the same issue was held on 17th May which did not have inconclusive.
