Security at Kamakhya temple tightened after threat

GUWAHATI, ASSAM , 26 DEC , 2007 : Security was strengthened at the famous Kamakhya Hindu temple in India's northeastern Assam state on December 25th after threat by a rebel outfit. The alert comes over a week after a suspected Pakistani secret agency ISI's operative Mojibullah Alam alias Asfi Alam was nabbed in the state's main city Guwahati, where the temple is located, on December 14th.

India and China will hold formal talks on the issues of border, trade and peace respectively on Monday. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang currently on a visit to India met Manmohan Singh in New Delhi earlier on Sunday.

Attack on newspaper office in Tripura kills 3

Three employees of a Bengali daily newspaper including a manager were killed by two unidentified assailants at their office in Agartala. The incident happened when two assailants stormed into the office of Dainik Ganadoot, and stabbed to death the 32 year old proof reader, Sujit Bhattacharjee, and seriously injured manager Ranjit Chowdhury, and driver Balaram Ghosh, both of whom died on way to hospital.
