Kohima Feb28, 2008 : Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on February 27 said that the federal government is committed to secure a honourable settlement to the prolonged political conflict in the remote northeastern state of Nagaland. The PM made an official visit to the state capital Kohima ahead of the Assembly election in the state on March 3. The Naga insurgency, India's oldest, is aimed at creating a separate state of "Greater Nagaland" for ethnic Naga people of the region in which more than 20, 000 people heve been killed since the conflict began in 1947.
