Handling multiple roles of his career, Farhan Akhtar became a known filmmaker, film producer, scriptwriter, playback singer, lyricist and actor in the Indian film industry. He made his writing and directorial debut with the film Dil Chahta Hai in 2001, which earned him nominations in Best Screenplay, Best Direction and Best Film categories in various award functions. It was produced under his own production company Excel Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. that he co established with Ritesh Sidhwani in 1999. The film also won National Film Award for Best Hindi Feature Film. Since then he has produced and directed films like Lakshya, Don The Chase Begins, Positive (which is a short film on HIV), and Don 2. Making his acting debut in the film Rock On , which also won him Filmfare, IIFA and Star Screen Awards for Best Male Debut Actor, Farhan continued to act in films like The Fakir of Venice, Luck By Chance, Karthik Calling Karthik, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Recently, a film society organized a screening of his blockbuster Dil Chahta Hai to mark the celebration of the film completing a decade. Present at the occasion, Farhan Akhtar spoke with us.
