Mumbai police detain 9 girls during bar raid

Mumbai, June 27 (ANI): Acting on a tip off, police have detained nine girls and 16 persons, including four bar staff members, for their alleged involvement in flesh trade during a raid in Mumbai today. The raid, which took place at the citys bar My Home, was part of the ongoing drive against prostitution in the city by the social service branch (SSB) of the Mumbai Police. The arrested bar staff included the cashier of the bar. However, the owner and the manager are absconding. During the raid police also seized cash of nearly Rs. 2.70 lakhs.

IPL betting scandal: Gurunath Meiyappan arrested, Srinivasan says wont resign

Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI President N Srinivasan has been arrested for his alleged involvement in IPL betting scandal. Meiyappan will be produced before a metropolitan court on Saturday. He was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch after nearly two-and-a-half hours of questioning that began at 9.30 pm.

Congress top leaders to discuss on food security bill

There is a meeting of Congress core group today, in which they will decide whether to call for a special session of Parliament or to pass an ordinance on the Food Security Bill. Earlier, a meeting based on the same issue was held on 17th May which did not have inconclusive.
