Ahmedabad, December 25 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said that Ahmedabad has garnered respect and praise in the world of marathons, as more and more people are coming forward to participate in such events. Modi said this after flagging off the Sabarmati Marathon, which has witnessed a registration of 9,793 runners this year. In addition, the Kankaria Carnival, an annual event has been scheduled from December 25 to 31. The Sabarmati Marathon 2011 has been organised in collaboration with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

Rescue operations underway in Joshimath
