B Sreeramulu wins Karnataka bypoll

Bangalore, December 4 (ANI): Independent candidate B Sreeramulu, a close associate of jailed mining barons and former ministers G Janardhana Reddy and Karunakara Reddy, today won the bypoll elections in Karnataka. Joint Election Commissioner of Karnataka, R Manoj, announced the results at a news briefing in Bangalore. While Congress candidate B Ramprasad came in second with 27,737 votes, the states ruling party BJP and its candidate P Gadilingappa was ousted after it bagged just 17,366 votes.
FM Triggers Debate on Financial Reforms
Top policymakers, stock exchange representatives and regulators came together in the Capital on Wednesday to deliberate on the proposed Indian Financial Code. Finance Minister P. Chidambaram inaugurated a national seminar on Indian Financial Code to bring about a debate on the financial sector legislative reforms commission (FSLRC) report.
Sanjay Dutt shifted to Yerwada Jail in Pune
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who had last week surrendered in a Mumbai Jail was today secretly shifted to the Yerawada Central Jail in Pune. The actor was taken from the high-security Arthur Road Central Jail in south Mumbai in a van around midnight and transferred to the Yerawada Central Jail in Pune early Wednesday, due to security reasons and to avoid media glare.
