Family, fans bid tearful adieu to Jagjit Singh

Mumbai, October 11 (ANI): Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh was bid a tearful adieu by family, friends and admirers on Tuesday. The 70 year old Ghazal maestro breathed his last at Lilavati hospital on Monday after battling for life for more than a fortnight following a brain haemorrhage. The mortal remains of Jagjit Singh were brought from the hospital to his residence in South Mumbai, where people paid their last respect. Members of music industry gathered in huge numbers to attend the ceremony. Singhs body was taken in an ambulance for cremation to Chandanwadi Crematorium. Credited with popularising the ghazal genre and making it accessible to the masses, Singh cut more than 40 private albums and sang for innumerable Bollywood films, influencing an entire generation of music lovers.

Congress top leaders to discuss on food security bill

There is a meeting of Congress core group today, in which they will decide whether to call for a special session of Parliament or to pass an ordinance on the Food Security Bill. Earlier, a meeting based on the same issue was held on 17th May which did not have inconclusive.
