New Delhi, October 11 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met the top military commanders of all the three defence services in New Delhi on Tuesday. Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh inaugurates a three day session, in which he Singh met army Chief General V K Singh, Air Chief Marshal N A K Browne and Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma and reviewed the measures that have been undertaken to safeguard the security of the country, amidst rising concern over the threat posed by the militants in the South Asian region.

Rescue operations underway in Joshimath

Rescue and relief operations are underway in Joshimath in Uttarakhand, which has been hit by severe floods. Some 18 helicopters have rescued 5,000 people in the worst-hit Uttarakhand. Tens of thousands of pilgrims are stranded in Uttarakhand, where more than 100 people have been killed.
