Mamata Banerjee leaves for earthquake ravaged area

Kolkata/ Siliguri, September 19 (ANI): West Bengal chief Mamata Banerjee, on Monday left for Darjeeling to review the relief and rescue operation in the earthquake ravaged areas.The state chief will visit Darjeeling, Bagdogra and Siliguri to take stock of the relief operation and rehabilitation work.In Siliguri,landslides triggered by earthquake and heavy rains have affected rescue operations. It has snapped road communication thus slowing the arrival of thousands of soldiers, rescue workers and medics by road.

Congress top leaders to discuss on food security bill

There is a meeting of Congress core group today, in which they will decide whether to call for a special session of Parliament or to pass an ordinance on the Food Security Bill. Earlier, a meeting based on the same issue was held on 17th May which did not have inconclusive.
