Government confirms death of 14 people in earthquake

New Delhi, September 19 (ANI): Rain and landslides on Monday hampered the search for survivors in Sikkim, the epicenter of a 6.8 magnitude earthquake that hit several parts of the country, as government officials confirmed the over all death toll as 14. Home Ministry spokesperson Onkar Kedia told mediapersons today that Sikkim had been worst hit as it received the most turbulent shocks killing seven people and leaving 64 injured.Kedia further said that landslides and heavy rain were slowing the rescue operations.

IPL betting scandal: Gurunath Meiyappan arrested, Srinivasan says wont resign

Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI President N Srinivasan has been arrested for his alleged involvement in IPL betting scandal. Meiyappan will be produced before a metropolitan court on Saturday. He was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch after nearly two-and-a-half hours of questioning that began at 9.30 pm.

Congress top leaders to discuss on food security bill
