BJP hails Osamas death but says more needs to be done

New Delhi, May 2 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party today expressed their happiness over the death of Osama bin Laden, while insisting the fight against militant extremism continues. BJP Spokesperson, Ravi Shankar Prasad, at a news briefing said that though bin Laden was dead, the roots of militancy nurtured by him are too strong to be shaken even with his death. Accusing Pakistan of providing a safe haven to militants, Prasad said they are hiding people who masterminded 2008 Mumbai attacks and derailed a sluggish peace process between the two nuclear armed neighbours.

Rescue operations underway in Joshimath

Rescue and relief operations are underway in Joshimath in Uttarakhand, which has been hit by severe floods. Some 18 helicopters have rescued 5,000 people in the worst-hit Uttarakhand. Tens of thousands of pilgrims are stranded in Uttarakhand, where more than 100 people have been killed.
