Pakistan's president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, may decide to impose emergency rule because of deteriorating security conditions and the growing threat of violence by Islamic extremists, a senior government official in Islamabad said Wednesday. According to Pak media, Musharraf attended a meeting with the government's lawyers and top military officials to discuss the possibility of imposing an emergency and may impose such rule today.
